During 2008, the choir was working on "Musequality", a project supported by EUPA, during which the choir performed a series of concerts based on the theme of "Equality". During this project, Symphonik Choir and Band performed music from several eras and several cultures to present both the unjust reality of unequal treatment of different people and also messages of hope that promoted the value of equity.

The first concert – Each Small Candle – was held in July 2008 at the University of Malta. During this concert, Symphonik performed a mixture of songs that presented issues of inequality and others that put forward a message of hope. Poverty, war, racism and splits were contrasted by symbols of unity, sameness, bonds and connections. Besides cover versions, two original songs, namely ‘The Language of Music’ and ‘Unite Our Hearts’ composed by Antonio Olivari and Stephen Ferrito respectively were also performed on the nights.

Beyond What Divides was the second concert in the Musequality series. Held at the MITP Theatre in Valletta during the month of December, the theme of equality – this time with a touch of Christmas, was further explored through an acoustic concert, in a more intimate and warm ambience. Whilst enjoying the performance, the audience was invited to reflect upon the several situations that create barriers to people being treated equally, and how often religion, race and gender become stumbling blocks rather than building blocks of the same nature of humanity. This concert included another six original pieces, the two of the previous concert together with ‘It-Tila’ composed by Jean Claude Vancell and Lorleen Farrugia, ‘Dream’ composed by Errol Cutajar and Elvio Cauchi, ‘Why Did He Choose To Be Me’ composed by Malcolm Bonello and Matthew Borg and ‘A Child Is Born’ composed by the Choir Director Stephen Ferrito.
