Akustika

AkustikaAkustika is a series of unplugged concerts that have been covering a mixture of pop, rock and blues songs with a bit of a jazzy feel thrown in for good measure. The concerts were held in a small, cosy environment that complimented well with the mellow nature of the playing style of the musicians.

The first edition of Akustika was held in March 2006 at the St James Cavalier Music Room. The positive response received served as an impetus for the perforers to do a follow up concert with a completely new repertoire in July of that same year. All instruments used were acoustic and consisted of guitars, piano, viola, violin, tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, bass guitar and a vast assortment of percussion instruments together with vocals of course.

The third and fourth editions held in March 2008 and March 2009 respectively consisted of the same setup, building on the same approach of having a full acoustic set up while also experimenting by converting heavy rock and R‘nB songs into mellow acoustic performances. Ever since, there has been one new edition every year and Akustika has now become an annual event happening March/April of each year, with an ever-increasing audience.

Akustika manages to convey a mood that captures the audience’s attention by presenting alternate arrangements and interpretations to well known (and other not so known) songs. The result consisted in having an element of surprise within the familiar.
